Anya Taylor-Joy attends Mario movie premiere in character as Princess Peach
The Witch star voices the video game princess in the film adaptation
Anya Taylor-Joy turned up in character as Princess Peach at The Super Mario Bros. Movie premiere.
In the animated adaptation, Taylor-Joy voices the princess and attended the Los Angeles premiere in an all-pink action ensemble that included a leather jumpsuit, biker gloves and chunky boots. The only thing missing was Peach's crown.
The film also stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Jack Black as the villainous Bowser, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong and Charlie Day as Luigi.
Talking to Yahoo, Taylor-Joy admitted she hopes this isn't the last you see of Peach.
“I would love to [explore Peach further]. I love this world; I love the collaborators, I had such a good time, I’d love to. Wherever they want to go with it, I hope I’m along for the ride.”

Taylor-Joy has also admitted to being a gaming fan. She said recently: “So now I am a gamer, and it’s really fun. Ideally, I like playing at arcades, because, again, it’s like cinema; I love the ceremony. I’ll go with a whole bunch of friends. And we’ll just spend hours at the arcade.”
Taylor-Joy also called Princess Peach a role model for young girls: “When I first saw the film, I came out so unbelievably excited and quite moved that this is now somebody that kids could have as a role model, and that this is what female leadership is.

"This is how we’re presenting female leadership. I just felt so proud to be a part of that."
In the games, the character is typically depicted as a damsel in distress but that won't be the case in the film adaptation.

The Queen's Gambit star has also just finished filming Furiosa, a prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road that also stars Chris Hemsworth.
Of the challenging shoot, she said: “It’s the dirtiest and the bloodiest I have ever been, which is saying something, genuinely saying something. Any time I get to be dirty or bloody and not perfectly prim and pretty, I’m just having a ball, that’s where I feel most comfortable. So yeah, Furiosa was definitely right up my street.”
The Super Mario Bros Movie follows the eponymous plumber as he is transported to the Mushroom Kingdom and has to save his brother Luigi from Bowser.
The film will be released in UK cinemas on 7 April.
