Aquaman Gets A Screenwriter

‘Aquaman’ has a new screenwriter – although it just so happens it’s a writer who’s already worked on the movie before.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Will Beall has been hired to pen the final script for the Warner Bros/DC movie from director James Wan, set to star Jason Momoa in the title role.

Warners/DC initially had multiple writers working on alternate scripts for the film, from which they could choose the best. Beall wrote one of these scripts prior to ‘Fast & Furious 7’ director Wan boarding the project, but had since moved on to other jobs including ‘Gangster Squad’ and the ‘Training Day’ TV series.

However, Wan and DC boss Geoff Johns have subsequently reworked the story from scratch, and Beall will now pen an all-new screenplay based on their ‘detailed treatment.’

Momoa made his debut as the Atlantean superhero in a very brief ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ cameo, and will really get to stretch his wings (or gills, or whatever) in Zack Snyder’s team-up movie ‘Justice League,’ due November 2017.

Also set to appear in ‘Justice League’ are Amber Heard as Aquaman’s wife Mera, and Willem Defoe as his advisor Vulko – both of whom are expected to appear in ‘Aquaman.’

‘Aquaman’s UK release date isn’t set yet, but it’s expected July 2018.
