Affleck, who is starring, directing, and has been working on the script for months to make it just right, confirmed to Variety that everything is still going according to plan with ‘The Batman’, which was previously touted for a spring, 2017, start date.

“We’re on the right track with that and everything is coming together,” Ben Affleck admitted. “We’re still finishing up a script. I’m very excited.”

Affleck’s comments suggest that Warner Bros. are looking to fast track ‘The Batman’, a title that’s very much a placeholder, into production and out into cinemas, while Affleck is only going to get a few weeks rest between promoting his impending gangster ‘Live By Night’ and starting proper work on his latest outing as Bruce Wayne.

Over the last few weeks there have been more and more rumours that ‘The Batman’ is actually going to arrive in the fall of 2018, with speculation suggesting that ‘Justice League 2’ has been delayed to make way for the blockbuster, while the decision to push Aquaman back until October also means July 27, 2018, is free.

Ben Affleck has always insisted that he intended to get the movie done right, and wouldn’t be rushed into production until it was. From the sound of things, though, ‘The Batman’ is now on the cusp of being ready for production, with Joe Manganiello already confirmed to play Deathstroke, Jeremy Irons returning as Alfred, and Geoff Johns having co-writing the script alongside Affleck.

Expect further details regarding casting and its plot to be revealed over the next few weeks, while ‘Live By Night’ will be released in the UK on January 13th.
