Blade adds Pearl's Mia Goth in mystery role

Blade is set to get bloodier with horror queen Mia Goth confirmed for a role in the Marvel film.

The X and Pearl star has been confirmed to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a mystery role as part of the upcoming eagerly-anticipated reboot of the franchise, Deadline reports.

Infinity Pool actor Goth will appear alongside Mahershala Ali in the leading role, who was first cast back in 2019.

Her casting follows roles in Ti West's wildly popular X and prequel film Pearl, with Goth set to star in the franchise's third installment, MaXXXine.

It has also been reported she is in talks to appear in Guillermo del Toro's upcoming Frankenstein film.

Not much is known yet about Blade's plot and what role Goth will play. But Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre are also set to star in the movie, and it has been speculated that Kit Harington will appear as Dane Whitman, who was introduced in Eternals.

Yann Demange is set to direct, with Michael Starrbury writing the script.

Blade was last on our screen in a string of 2000s movies with Wesley Snipes in the lead role.

A series of delays have befallen the production of the reboot, including director Bassam Tariq stepping away from the project last year before filming was set to begin.

A Marvel Studios statement at the time read: "Due to continued shifts in our production schedule, Bassam is no longer moving forward as director of Blade but will remain an executive producer on the film.

"We appreciate Bassam's talent and all the work he's done getting Blade to where it is."

However, Feige recently gave an update on the status of the film that sounds promising.

"It's going well. Our director Yann is down in Atlanta right now. Cameras roll in the next 10 weeks or so," he told Entertainment Weekly in February.

Blade is set to be released on September 6, 2024.
