Bond 25 Producers Ask, “What Is The World Afraid Of Now?”

Despite a global box office haul of nearly $900 million, it seems generally agreed that 2015′s ‘SPECTRE’ was not a particular highlight in the 24-film series.

A great many question marks hang over the iconic secret agent franchise at present - including the not inconsiderable matter of whether or not Daniel Craig will return to the role for a fifth time.

Even so, the team at Eon Productions are already putting their heads together to plan where 007 goes from here, and producer Michael G Wilson has said a few words on the subject to a Norwegian website (translation via Birth Movies Death).

“We’ve just begun to doodle with ideas for the next movie. Each script process begins when we ask ourselves the question: “What is the world afraid of now?"

“In the case of Spectre the theme was global monitoring and utilization of information. So now we are trying to find out what will be relevant in the coming years.”

Wilson continues, “We always want to do something new with the Bond character and see him in situations we have not seen him in the past. We must give the audience something new every time…often it helps to go back to Ian Fleming’s novels for inspiration, whether you’re talking about grades or mood.”

Finding a fresh and interesting approach will doubtless be key not only to appeasing the audience, but also to luring back Craig, who infamously made no secret of his exhaustion with playing Bond whilst promoting ‘SPECTRE’ (that ‘I’d sooner slash my wrists’ remark is sure to haunt him forever).

With Craig recently signing on to star in TV series ‘Purity,’ reports say Eon may be delaying the 25th Bond movie to accommodate for their valued star’s schedule.
