Channing Tatum To Exit Gambit Solo Movie?

Channing Tatum’s ‘Gambit’ looks as though it might be falling apart… as it’s rumoured that he’s planning to exit the ‘X-Men’ solo movie.

According to The Wrap, the 35-year-old actor is preparing to pull out of the project – a film which has long been considered a passion project.

“Channing Tatum’s ‘Gambit’ deal is in jeopardy of falling apart and he is planning to exit the comic book project at 20th Century Fox,” they revealed. “The studio had been in the process of testing young actresses to star alongside Tatum, including Lea Seydoux, but insiders suggest that director Rupert Wyatt will soon have to find a new leading man.”

But will this be the end of Tatum’s involvement entirely?

“It is unclear whether Tatum and his producing partner Reid Carolin plan to remain involved in a producing capacity,” they explained, “or whether Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner will move forward on their own.”

Of course, this news comes as quite a shock – after all, it was Channing Tatum who managed to convince 20th Century Fox to go ahead with the movie. But one individual close to the film revealed that Tatum’s reps are still in discussions with the studio… even though “something is up.”

But why would he pull out after convincing the studio to go ahead in the first place?

According to a profile at Grantland, Channing Tatum and producer Reid Carolin are currently gearing up for his directorial debut… whatever that might be. And after the recent success of ’22 Jump Street’, it looks as though Sony have signed him up for another sequel.

Could it be the case that Channing Tatum just has too much on his plate? For now, we’ll have to wait and se. But this could put an end to the ‘Gambit’ solo movie as we know it.

‘Gambit’ is currently slated for release on 7 October 2016.
