Courteney Cox shows off hair transformation in Scream 3 throwback

Scream may not be the scariest horror movie franchise out there, but it does contain some of the most frightening images ever put to screen: we're talking about any and all scenes featuring Courteney Cox's awful bangs in Scream 3.

The Friends actress plays reporter Gale Weathers in the series, and while reporters aren't necessarily known for their style, that hairdo was something else.

For Halloween this year, Cox decided to pay tribute to/mock the bangs, uploading a photo to her Instagram of Ghostface threatening to cut the hair off.

"Not the bangs!!!!!!!!" she wrote, echoing what every Scream fan says when they get to the third movie in their annual rewatch.

A fifth Scream movie is currently filming, bringing back plenty of former cast members, including Cox, Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Marley Shelton. It will be the first entry in the series not directed by Wes Craven, as he sadly passed away in 2015.

One thing that could be different about the film is the killer, as it has been teased that there might be a change from the familiar white mask...

A crew member on the production tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) recently, but filming didn't have to shut down as the necessary protocols were all in place to allow them to carry on as normal.

The new Scream has a release date of January 14, 2022.
