It looks as though ‘Disenchanted’ may have finally found a director.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Adam Shankman is in talks to direct ‘Disenchanted’ - - the upcoming sequel to Disney’s ‘Enchanted’.

“Adam Shankman, the helmer behind the musical Hairspray, is in negotiations to direct Disenchanted, the sequel to Disney’s 2007 musically-inclined fantasy that starred Amy Adams.”

‘Enchanted’ was the 2007 animated / live-action Disney hit which saw Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden and Idina Menzel breaking down the stereotypes of being a typical Disney princess.

Both an homage and parody of Disney’s animated features, it gave us a unique look at the typical Disney princess as she’s forced to go it alone in the real world.

But will any of the original cast return?

It certainly looks like it…

“Adams is expected to return for the sequel, which Disney is hoping to get before cameras in summer 2017,” they revealed. There’s no word on whether her co-stars will also return.

“Sources say Disenchanted is set ten years after the first movie, with Giselle finding herself questioning her happily ever after, and accidentally triggering events that make everyone’s lives turn upside down in both the real world and in the animated kingdom of Andalasia.”

Surely this means Patrick Dempsey will return? Or will his role end up being recast?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
