Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has not only won over the global box office, but our hearts too as he was crowned People’s sexiest man alive, 2016.
The action star won the title as he beat off stiff competition from the likes of Tom Hiddleston, Brad Pitt, and a host of famous names which caps off a pretty remarkable year for the WWE star turned Hollywood hero.
Johnson’s already been named the world’s highest-grossing movie star and is considering one of the nicest working actors in the business, especially with the dedication and love he seems to have for fans on social media.
Speaking to People, Johnson appeared chuffed at the win: “I said, ‘That’s awesome.’ And then what went through my mind was just how cool and exciting it is,” he revealed. “And then I thought, ‘Wow, we’ve pretty much reached the pinnacle.’ I’m not quite too sure where we go from here. I’ve done it all, this is it.”
But life for the former wrestler wasn’t always as good as this, as he often reminds his followers on Twitter and Instagram. Growing up and when he started out with a dream to get into the then WWF, Johnson could barely scrape a few dollars together, which is a far cry from the multi million dollar empire he has today.
As a youngster he admits to almost going down the wrong path:
“I was doing a lot of things that I shouldn’t have. I was getting arrested multiple times, but at the same time, always very respectful to my teachers and elders. I was unsure of who I was and who I wanted to be,”
The ‘Fast and Furious’ star says he’s happy and “very proud” where he is now and the family he has which keep him grounded and humble.
“I’ve made big sweeping changes in my career over the years, which have served me nicely, But I feel that the big sweeping changes that happened in my life, in my relationships, of being a dad, of being a partner, and the things that I was and the things that I am, has really lent itself to a confidence.”
Currently, Johnson’s about to release ‘Moana’, the tale of Disney’s Polynesian princess where he plays bulking demigod Maui. He’s also in the process of filming the remake of ‘Jumanji’ and recently completed his shoot for the next ‘Fast and Furious’ instalment, and only last week did he admit he may run for President in 2020!
It’s fair to say the actor’s certainly keeping himself busy.
‘Moana’ is in UK cinemas on 2 December.
