Felicity Jones wanted role in Peaky Blinders film
Felicity Jones wanted to be involved in the Peaky Blinders movie.
Cillian Murphy reprised his role as Tommy Shelby, the leader of the titular Birmingham criminal gang, to shoot a feature film continuation of his popular TV series last year.
Jones, who grew up in the British city, revealed on the Table Manners podcast that she reached out to the movie's director Tom Harper because she was "desperate" to be involved.
"I was desperate to do Peaky Blinders and Tom, who directed it, who I did The Aeronauts with, I was like, 'Come on Tom, come on, you've got a willing actor here.' 'Cause I would've loved to have done the film," she shared on Wednesday. "I didn't get the call."
The Theory of Everything actress noted that she couldn't help but critique the actors' Birmingham accents when she watched the period crime drama, which ran from 2013 to 2022.
"I listen to it (the accent) and I'm like, 'That's not right! That's right! That's not right! That's right,'" she added.
The Peaky Blinders film, which is rumoured to be titled The Immortal Man, was filmed between September and December last year.
Murphy was joined by returning co-stars Stephen Graham and Sophie Rundle as well as newcomers Barry Keoghan, Tim Roth and Rebecca Ferguson.
The film, written by creator Steven Knight, does not yet have a release date.
