‘An Education’ director Lone Scherfig is helming this starry adaptation of Lissa Evans’ hit 2009 novel about the making of a crucial propaganda film during Britain’s darkest days. Gemma Arterton (‘The Girl With All The Gifts’) takes the lead as Catrin Cole, a copywriter drafted in for screenwriting duties by the Ministry of Information, who must work with Sam Claflin’s belligerent Tom Buckley and “do their bit” for the war effort by producing a new feature film against a very tight deadline.

The film, a heartwarming tale of derring do set amidst the evacuation of Dunkirk, sees Nighy’s character playing a drunken sailor, although he’s very resistant to the idea at first.

Partnered with fellow writer, Buckley (Sam Claflin), the pair, along withfading matinee idol Ambrose Hilliard (Bill Nighy), reluctantly joins forces on a movie to warm the hearts of the nation and capture the imagination of the US public.

Bill recently reprised his iconic ‘Love Actually’ role of ageing rocker Bill Mack in ‘Red Nose Day Actually‘, a charity special for Comic Relief.
