Thor: Ragnarok gets an epic first trailer
The first trailer for ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is online and it’s absolutely epic.
The God of Thunder is back but it doesn’t look good for our favourite Asgardian Avenger. Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, Thor is stranded on Sakaar – a barbaric, desolate planet which enslaves its inhabitants and pits them against each other in gladiatorial combat.
Making matters worse, it looks as though he’s needed in Asgard, as an unstoppable force seeks to destroy his home.
But can Thor fight his way back before it’s too late?

Clearly, something big is coming – it’s not called ‘Ragnarok’ for nothing.
And the trailer picks up with the appearance of Cate Blanchett’s Hela – Goddess of Death – turning up at the gates of Asgard. Now that really doesn’t sound good.
Here’s the official synopsis:
“In Marvel Studios’ ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!”
That’s right – we’ll be watching Thor and the Hulk going head to head.
And we’re not talking about those half-assed matchups from Avengers Assemble. Clad entirely in gladiatorial gear a la ‘Planet Hulk’, it looks as though the Incredible Hulk won’t be taking any prisoners.
But can Thor convince his buddy to help him out and save Asgard?
If the new trailer wasn’t enough, there’s also a rather cool (and psychedelic-looking) one-sheet courtesy of the folks at Marvel. And it gives us an even closer look at Thor’s swanky new haircut:
Pretty neat, huh?
