First Free Fire Trailer Hits Amid Rave Reviews From Toronto

The first trailer for Ben Wheatley’s first American-set movie ‘Free Fire’ has blasted its way online.

Featuring Brie Larson, Armie Hammer, Sharlto Copley, and Cillian Murphy, it’s a bullet-soaked, moustachioed riot of a trailer that’s also quite sweary, so it’s probably not safe for work speakers.

Watch it above.

Studio Canal cannily launched this first look trailer as rave reviews begin to seep out of Toronto International Film Festival.

Variety’s Peter Debruge hailed it as “a dizzyingly choreographed — and unexpectedly comedic — shoot-’em-up” which “crosses the irreverent cheekiness of Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Reservoir Dogs’ with the ruthless spirit of 1970s B-movies”, while The Playlist’s Kevin Jagernauth called it Wheatley’s “most purely popcorn and wildly enjoyable movie to date.”

Stephen Dalton of The Hollywood Reporter was a bit more lukewarm towards the film despite praising its “superbly choreographed pyrotechnics and kinetically nimble camerawork” calling it “a scattershot exercise in genre homage that ultimately misses the target.”

This hasn’t dampened our enthusiasm though, and we’re still counting down the days until it hits UK cinemas in 2017.

While we’re here, can we also just take a second to appreciate the awesome US poster for the film that was released earlier this week?
