The first trailer for Lisa Frankenstein, staring The Haunting of Hill House's Carla Gugino and Riverdale's Cole Sprouse, is here.

Set to be released on February 9 in the US and March 1 in the UK, the comedy-horror film follows the story of '80s schoolgirl Lisa Swallows (Supernatural's Kathryn Newton) whose life takes an unusual turn after she accidentally resurrects a handsome Victorian corpse during a lightning storm.

Rather than returning the man to his grave, Lisa begins to transform him into the man of her dreams, leading the pair to embark on "murderous journey to find love, happiness… and a few missing body parts along the way".

In the trailer, we see Lisa quizzed by a schoolfriend about her current crush, with the teenager revealing she's not in love with a classmate but instead tends to the grave of a man who she has fallen in love with.

"I tend his grave, I talk to him," Lisa explains, as a clip shows her caressing the man's statue by his gravestone. "That's really weird Lisa," her friend replies.

Lisa's dreams soon turn into reality when a lighting storm reanimates the man, who later shows up at her doorstep.

However, her plans to bring the man back to life soon turn deadly as Lisa convinces him to help her chop off the body parts of all the "bad people" in the town in order to restore him back to his full glory.

We also see our first glimpse of Gugino, who stars as Lisa's less-than-impressed stepmother. "You are being admitted, inpatient, lockdown," she tells Lisa in another clip, as the disappearance of the missing student is investigated.

Alongside Sprouse, Gugino and Newton, Lisa Frankenstein also stars Stranger Things' Joe Chrest, Alone/Together's Liza Soberano and The Crowded Room's Henry Eikenberry.

The film has been written by Juno and Jennifer's Body writer Diablo Cody, while Zelda Williams has directed the feature.

Lisa Frankenstein will arrive in US cinemas on February 9, 2024, before arriving in the UK and Ireland on March 1, 2024.
