Ben Affleck's collaboration with Alita: Battle Angel director Robert Rodriguez, Hypnotic, officially heads to UK cinemas on Friday, May 26.

The movie, which has a first trailer above, also stars Alice Braga (The Suicide Squad), William Fichtner (The Dark Knight), Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen), JD Pardo (Mayans MC), Hala Finley (Magnum P.I) and Dayo Okeniyi (See).

A real blending of genres, Hypnotic features Affleck in the shoes of detective Danny Rourke, who's got one hell of a head-scratching case on his hands.

"Determined to find his missing daughter, Danny instead finds himself spiralling down a rabbit hole while investigating a series of reality-bending bank robberies where he will ultimately call into question his most basic assumptions about everything and everyone in his world," reads the synopsis.

"Aided by Diana Cruz (Braga), an unnervingly gifted psychic, Rourke simultaneously pursues and is pursued by a lethal spectre - the one man he believes holds the key to finding the missing girl - only to discover more than he ever bargained for."

Pardo plays Nicks, Danny's partner on the street; Finley is his missing daughter Minnie; Okeniyi is the tech-genius conspiracy theorist River; Haley is reclusive expat Jeremiah, and Fichtner is the "enigmatic figure" behind the whole mystery.

Meanwhile, back in January, Affleck revealed how close pal Matt Damon influenced his decision to hang up his suit as the Caped Crusader.

"I had a really nadir experience around Justice League for a lot of different reasons. Not blaming anybody, there's a lot of things that happened. But really what it was is that I wasn't happy. I didn't like being there," he explained.

"I didn't think it was interesting. And then some really shitty things, awful things happened. But, that's when I was like, 'I'm not going to do that anymore.'

"In fact, I talked to [Damon] about it and [he] was a principal influence on that decision. I want to do the things that would bring me joy."

Hypnotic hits UK cinemas on May 26.
