Yahoo Movies First trailer for Jenna Ortega's new movie with Martin Freeman
The first trailer for Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman's new movie Miller's Girl is here.
The directorial debut from Jade Halley Bartlett, Miller's Girl stars Freeman as teacher Jonathan Miller, who develops a complex relationship with his student Cairo Sweet (Ortega) following a creative writing assignment.
In the trailer, we see Jonathan introduced to 18-year-old Cairo. Noticing her talent, Jonathan asks her to write a short story in the style of her favourite author, with Cairo later seen discussing the project with another student. "Make him love you," she tells Cairo in the clip.
Later, we see the relationship turn tense after Jonathan lectures Cairo on the content of her writing. "Why did you write this? This is inappropriate," he questions, leading Cairo to respond: "'Write what you know' is what you said."
Things continue to get worse for Jonathan as he tries to establish boundaries between himself and Cairo — while she grapples with how her words could ruin his life.
Miller's Girl also features Gideon Adlon, Succession star Dagmara Domińczyk and Top Gun: Maverick's Bashir Salahuddin.

The film is set to be released in the US on January 26, 2024, after an initial premiere at the Palm Springs Film Festival. A UK release date is yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, Ortega recently announced her departure from Scream 7 due to a scheduling conflict. She starred as Tara Carpenter in the slasher franchise's two most recent films.
Ortega will next be seen in Finestkind — set for release on December 15 — and will star in the upcoming film Death of a Unicorn.
Miller's Girl will premiere in US cinemas on January 26, 2024.
