General Zod’s Weird New Look In Batman V Superman

It looks as though General Zod is getting a new look in ‘Batman V Superman’… and it’s left many fans scratching their heads.

During an interview with Vulture, Michael Shannon revealed that General Zod won’t be quite the same man we saw in ‘Man of Steel’.

“I was in my costume, and I couldn’t use my fingers because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands,” he said. “So I had these wax flippers on my fingers, and I couldn’t open the door, and I could hear Zack [Snyder, the BvS director] being like, ‘Where’s Shannon? Where the f**k is he?’”

Apparently, Shannon found himself in a bit of a tight spot after locking himself in behind a closed door on set… and with his new flipper-like appendages, couldn’t operate the handle.

“The whole crew was standing around,” he said. “I was like, knocking on the door with my flippers, ‘Let me out of here!'”

But thankfully, an attentive crew member came to his aid.

“He was actually paying attention to what was going on. He came over and he opened the door for me. Otherwise I would have gotten fired.”

A whimsical anecdote, sure… but most importantly – why the hell does General Zod have flippers?

Ever since production began on ‘Batman V Superman’, we’ve heard rumours surrounding General Zod’s involvement. Many wondered quite how the dead Kryptonian soldier would factor into the story… but the prevailing theory is that he will be somehow transformed into the iconic Supeman villain, Doomsday.

Although quite what this has to do with flippers, is a bit of a mystery.

Of course, we’ve already seen General Zod appear in the first official trailer, and it seems that the Kryptonian villain is zipped up in some kind of body bag. This certainly lends weight to a popular theory that Zod’s body is being used by Lex Luthor for some nefarious purpose.

But will General Zod’s corpse go through a body-horror-style transformation to become the genetically-engineered Doomsday? And will he really get a pair of flippers? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
