Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire has released a new trailer, and it's absolutely full of fan-service.

As well as plenty of references to the classic Ray Parker Jr theme song, we've got Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson and Dan Aykroyd as Venkman, Zeddemore and Stantz, we've got Annie Potts' Janine Melnitz finally suiting up, we've got William Atherton's Walter Peck being a killjoy, and, right at the end, we've got Slimer.

Among all that, there's also a plotline about a new spook wanting to freeze New York City, and the new generation needing to stop it.

You might also notice James Acaster briefly in there as well, playing an eccentric scientist-type who learns the hard way that you shouldn't put your hand on the macguffin.

Agents of SHIELD's Patton Oswalt, Eternals' Kumail Nanjiani and Doctor Sleep's Emily Alyn Lind also pop up as brand-new characters.

Speaking about finally getting the chance to be a full-on Ghostbuster, Potts explained that it wasn't actually something that was originally planned.

She said: "It came as a real surprise. We were weeks into shooting and Gil [Kenan, director] came up to me and said: 'We think it's time… We're gonna have you suit up'."

"I have to say I did [get a kick out of it]. Janine has served long and well, and I felt like she was finally getting her stripes, you know?

"She's clearly stayed in touch with the guys [between Ghostbusters II and Frozen Empire], and she's really been the keeper of the flame at the Firehouse. The Ghostbusters are kind of superheroes, so it's very nice to finally be seen in that way, too."

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is released in cinemas on March 22.
