Just like us, it appears that when not required to, celebrities are more than happy to make no effort whatsoever on Zoom.

The Golden Globes took place online last night, and while some kept the tuxedo and statement dress vibe alive, many just treated it like a regular quiz night.

Jeff Bridges, for example, couldn't have been in more of a 'spare room' if he'd tried, his particular spare room having more doors than any room has a right to.

Bridges, who was nominated for his role as former FBI director James Comey in The Comey Rule, also decided to go 'Sunday chic' with a flannel shirt, rather than make the effort to put on a suit.

He ended up losing to Mark Ruffalo for his role in I Know This Much Is True, so it was perhaps a good job he didn't bother dressing up.

Someone else who didn't bother dressing up was Jason Sudeikis, who was even less turned out than Bridges.

It was 3am for the Horrible Bosses star, so that would explain the dishevelled hair, unkempt moustache and tie-dye hoodie, as she switched on for his nomination for the comedy show Ted Lasso.

And while he may not have won the award for making an effort, he did win for best actor in a musical or comedy TV series.

Host Tina Fey joked: “If anybody wants to know where they can get Jason Sudekis' hoodie, go to nbc.com/globesfashion.”

John Boyega, meanwhile, performed the classic Zoom move of going smart on top, casual on the bottom, with a smart jacket and shirt coupled with trackie bottoms.

Winning the gong for best supporting actor in a series, miniseries or television film, for his role in Steve McQueen's anthology series Small Axe, he said: “I'm so shocked.”

Lifting his leg up, he added: “I thought it was gonna be one of them nights where... you go to your bed and just chill. I've got Balenciagas, guys. I've got trackie bottoms on my bottoms that I'm comfortable [in], but this is exciting.”

Elsewhere, Jodie Foster was resplendent in lounge-wear, appearing on the sofa with her wife Alex Hedison (in a set of very smart pyjamas) and her dog Ziggy.

Foster won Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in The Mauritanian.

And as one would expect, Bill Murray also favoured the casual over the dress suit.

In appearing for his nomination for Sofia Coppola's On The Rocks, he went for Hawaiian shirt and a martini in his back garden.

And perhaps rightly so.
