Kevin Bacon's long-awaited MCU cameo has finally been unveiled in the new trailer for The Guardians of The Galaxy: Holiday Special.

The Marvel spin-off - starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan and Vin Diesel - has been confirmed to premiere on Disney+ on 25 November 2022.

Bacon is frequently referenced in the MCU as a "great Earth hero" thanks to Star-Lord’s affection for Footloose and other 1980s culture, and the trailer reveals he will appear in the one-off film as himself.

The festive feature will follow the Guardians of the Galaxy as they return to Earth in order to give Star-Lord, played by Pratt, the best Christmas ever by getting him Hollywood actor Kevin Bacon himself.

Drax [Bautista] and Mantis [Klementieff] visit Bacon's Hollywood mansion and attempt to kidnap him in order to bring him back to the Milano to cheer up Star-Lord for the holidays.

The trailer also confirms the return of Cosmo the Spacedog.

And while the holiday special may appear to be all about festive fun and Kevin Bacon on the surface, director James Gunn has promised the movie will fill in the gaps about what the gang have been up to in between Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

He said: "Although the Holiday Special is a standalone story, it contains a lot of fun new facts about what the Guardians have been up to for all these years."

Bacon, 64, told Yahoo Movies UK in 2020 how he was eager to appear in a Marvel movie.
