It looks as though Guy Ritchie wanted to do ‘Suicide Squad 2’.

But he’s a bit busy with another project.

Askey by Variety whether he’d been approached by Warner Bros. for the upcoming ‘Suicide Squad’ sequel, British director Guy Ritchie admitted he would have loved to helm the movie.

“I quite fancy doing Suicide Squad 2, because I thought I could do a good job with it,” he said. “I can’t do it because I’m doing something else, but I’ve felt I could really do something with that.”

But was he originally in the running?

It’s no secret that ‘Suicide Squad 2’ is currently without a director, with David Ayer not returning to follow-up his original movie. And there’s already a pretty impressive list of names rumoured to be in the running, including Ruben Fleischer, Daniel Espinosa, Jonathan Levine and even Mel Gibson.

But how would Guy Ritchie have handled it?

I can’t help thinking it could have been a stroke of genius. Known for the likes of ‘Snatch’ and ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’, Ritchie could have brought a certain edge to ‘Suicide Squad 2’ which was missing from the first movie.

Sadly, we won’t get to see his version, as Ritchie is now busy with Disney’s ‘Aladdin’.

But who will helm the ‘Suicide Squad’ sequel?

For now, we have to wait and see.

‘Suicide Squad’ stars Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Cara Delevingne, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto and Viola Davis.

David Ayer wrote and directed the movie.

‘Suicide Squad’ opened in cinemas on 5 August 2016 with the sequel expected in 2019.
