While cinemas remain shut, why not bring the big screen home?

This Philips 7-series 4K smart LED TV boasts a monstrous 58-inch screen, perfect for Godzilla Vs Kong, streamed direct using Philips own Saphi smart platform, for £478. That’s a lot of screen for the price.

The set looks pretty fly for a wide guy. It stands apart from cookie-cutter rivals with its silver grey finish and super-slim bezel, which makes it easy on the eye.

58-inches is a great screen size, as it looks significantly bigger than 50 and 55-inch models when you dim the lights, even though its footprint isn’t that much larger.

Of course, if you want a smaller panel, then Currys is offering a 50-inch version for £429.

To ensure pictures are suitably cinematic, the 58PUS7555 supports both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ HDR technologies, which basically means the set will always make the most of streaming shows from Netflix and Amazon. HDR offers greater contrast than you’ll find on regular TVs, with enhanced image depth and believability.

For big, stomping sound quality, there’s support for Dolby Atmos cinema sound too.

Why we love it

The TV is smart, naturally. It runs Philips own Saphi connected system, which is basically a stripped back smart platform that makes a virtue of its simplicity, so anyone can use it.

Streaming apps on board include Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube and Rakuten TV. The set also has Freeview Play, so all the mainstream catch-up TV services are onboard. You can access programmes on BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4 and My5 by scrolling through the roll-back 7-day TV guide.

Need more entertainment? There’s also a trio of HDMI inputs on the rear, to hook up a DVD or Blu-ray player, games console or telly box.

If you’re looking for a big screen 4K TV that won’t break the bank, then this Philips has wow factor aplenty.
