Hotel Staff Fail To Recognise Tom Cruise, Ask For Loyalty Card
He’s only been the most recognisably famous Hollywood star of his generation for, ooh, about the last 30 years or so.
But still, perhaps arriving at the Marriott Hotel in Peterborough under an assumed name was enough to fox the waiting staff. According to reports, a waiter at breakfast quizzed the A-lister over whether he had a loyalty card upon failing to recognise him.

Presumably he doesn’t. Or maybe he does. We may never know.
But Marriott loyalty cards do afford members free wifi, room upgrades, extra towels and points towards future stays, so for the regular visitor, they’re certainly worth having.
Cruise had reportedly checked into the hotel with co-star Simon Pegg
and fellow production staff from the forthcoming ‘Mission: Impossible
5’, currently filming at RAF Wittering in Cambridgeshire.
The group had checked in under the name ‘Operation Fromage’, rather than, say, ‘Tom Cruise and Friends’, to retain their anonymity. The name was chosen as a nod to the famous village of Stilton being close by.
Speaking to The Sun, a source on the movie said: “Tom took it in good jest, but given the security operation to keep his and Simon’s stay under wraps it was funny no one seemed to bat an eyelid.”
Cruise was snapped last week performing his latest hair-raising stunt
for the film, being directed by Christopher McQuarrie.
The actor, who has been performing his own stunts for years now, was strapped to a A400M Airbus before taking off and climbing to 5000ft.
