James Earl Jones Returning As Darth Vader In Rogue One
Yesterday, Entertainment Weekly confirmed Darth Vader would appear in ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ and now we know that James Earl Jones is returning to voice the Sith lord.
However, producer Kathleen Kennedy has hinted Vader’s role in Gareth Edwards’ spinoff will be more of a cameo.
“[Vader] will be in the movie sparingly,” Kennedy told EW. “But at a key, strategic moment, he’s going to loom large.”
The feature also suggests the presence of Vader will cause tension with Ben Mendelsohn’s Director Orson Krennic, who’s described as “an ambitious Imperial officer with Machiavellian tendencies”.

But while we know who’s doing the voice of the feared Imperial enforcer in ‘Rogue One’, it’s still not clear who’ll actually be inside the iconic costume.
EW simply states “a variety of large-framed performers will embody the character behind the mask”, but we know for sure it won’t be David Prowse, the original Vader.
The 80-year-old Brit is a persona non grata at Lucasfilm following a long-running feud with George Lucas that led to a lifetime ban from official ‘Star Wars’ conventions.
