Frozen star Josh Gad is bringing together the original cast of The Goonies for special lockdown reunion later on today.

Broadcasting the live chat via his social media channels, Gad will be speaking to Lord of the Rings star Sean Astin – aka Mikey – who was on hand to deliver the 'Troy's Bucket' speech to ramp up the hype.

“There is one movie that defines my childhood. One movie that defines my personality. One movie that defines me,” added Gad.

Joining Astin and Gad on the call will be Josh Brolin (aka Brand), Kerri Green (Andy), Corey Feldman (Mouth), Ke Huy Quan (Data), Martha Plimpton (Stef) and Jeff Cohen (Chunk).

While the likes of Astin, Brolin, Plimpton and Feldman are still in the acting business, Quan is now a stunt choreographer, while Cohen is the founding partner of his own law firm.

The movie, a cult kid's classic, was released in 1985, directed by Superman's Richard Donner, written by Mrs Doubtfire and Harry Potter director Chris Columbus, and produced by Steven Spielberg.

Centring on a group of kids who try and stop their neighbourhood being bulldozed, they discover a map which leads to both secret treasure and peril.

It made a sturdy $124 million from its $19 million budget, and was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 2017.

The reunion takes place at 9am EST in the US, so 2pm in the UK.
