Kevin Hart is expected to make 'a full recovery' after having surgery for 'major back injuries' following a car crash at the weekend.

The Jumanji star was a passenger in his vintage Plymouth car when it left the road and rolled down an embankment on the trecherous Mullholland Highway in California.

Leland 'Pookey' Wigington, the president of Hart's production company, Hartbeat Productions, told NBC: “[He] is doing fine after back surgery and is expected to have a full recovery very soon.”

Hart was in the car with his wife's personal trainer Rebecca Broxterman and her fiance Jared Black, who was driving, when the crash happened in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The vintage car, which Hart had gifted himself for his 40th birthday in July, had its roof crushed, leaving Broxterman pinned inside, though she was unharmed.

Driver Jared Black was also pinned inside the car and had to be airlifted to hospital. His condition is not yet known.

According to local police, Black is not thought to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

Yesterday, Hart's wife Eniko Parrish told reporters that the actor was 'awake' and 'going to be just fine'.

Co-stars and friends including Bryan Cranston, Dwayne Johnson and Terry Crews have been among those to wish Hart a speedy recovery following the accident.
