King Kong vs Godzilla Movie On The Way
A massive deal has been made in Hollywood to pave the way for the biggest (literally) crossover movie of all time - ‘King Kong vs Godzilla’.
Deadline reports that Legendary Pictures is moving its upcoming King Kong prequel movie ‘Kong: Skull Island’ from Universal Pictures to Warner Bros. in order to align the franchise with Gareth Edwards’ ‘Godzilla’.
The as-yet-untitled crossover movie which will see the two movie monsters facing off in an epic battle will reportedly come after ‘Godzilla 2′ which is scheduled for release summer, 2018.
As you all know, it’s not the first time these two behemoths have clashed on screen. King Kong appeared in ‘King Kong vs Godzilla’, the third Godzilla film produced by the Japanese studio Toho in 1962. This is, however, the first mega-budget attempt to unite the two monsters on screen, and following the success of Edwards’ 2014 ‘Godzilla’, it’s a tantalising prospect.
There is the slight matter of scale that will have to resolved somehow for it to be a fair fight. King Kong is traditionally portrayed as a being about 8-10 metres tall while in the most recent American Godzilla, the fire-breathing reptile was around 150m in height.
Legendary’s ‘Kong: Skull Island’ is currently in pre-production and will likely shoot early 2016 for a release in March, 2017, with Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, and Corey Hawkins lined up to star.
