Though nothing is confirmed yet, the rumour is that Lashana Lynch's character in new Bond movie No Time To Die is the new 007.

And while there's a pretty big difference between that and there being 'a female James Bond', it hasn't stopped those with nothing much better to do getting their knickers in a bunch over it.

Responding to the reported backlash over the situation, but confirming nothing about the movie' plot, she told The Hollywood Reporter: “It doesn't dishearten me.

“It makes me feel quite sad for some people because their opinions, they're not even from a mean place – they're actually from a sad place.

“It's not about me. People are reacting to an idea, which has nothing to do with my life.”

She even added that she responded to the odd troll along the way, saying something nice, and the reaction was actually far from what she expected.

“Then they've been like, 'Oh my gosh, thank you so much!' But it's an interesting test because it reminds them that they definitely wouldn't say that to someone's face,” she went on.

Not much is known about Lynch's character Nomi yet, other than Bond encounters her in Jamaica.

It's thought that because Daniel Craig's Bond has left active service, his infamous but vacant code number 007 has been taken up by another agent.

British star Lynch joins Cuban actress Ana de Armas in the new movie, both thought to be key characters in Craig's last outing in the tuxedo.

Léa Seydoux is also back as Madeleine Swann, while Naomie Harris reprises her role as Moneypenny.

Harris recently revealed that she'd approached Barbara Broccoli about a potential Moneypenny spin-off movie, with director Barry Jenkins expressing interest in being involved, but the veteran Bond producer turned it down.

She told Good Morning America: “[Barry has] wanted to do a kind of bad ass, kick ass action thing with Moneypenny, which I’m all for, actually.

“I got together with Barbara Broccoli, our producer, and I was like, 'Let’s make this happen!' But she wasn’t so down for it.

“But maybe one day, who knows? The conversation has started, at least.”

Also starring Rami Malek, Ralph Fiennes, Rory Kinnear, Ben Whishaw and Jeffrey Wright, No Time To Die lands on April 3, 2020.
