The Last of Us' Pedro Pascal eyed for major Fantastic Four role
The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal is reportedly being eyed for the role of Mr. Fantastic in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Fantastic Four film.
Though they've had a few iterations onscreen before – including two early noughties flicks featuring Chris Evans and Jessica Alba, and a soft reboot starring Kate Mara and Miles Teller in 2015 – the First Family have not yet featured as a whole in the wider cinematic universe created by Marvel.
That's set to change with Fantastic Four, which is due to be released on May 2, 2025 – and recent reports that the production may have found its stretchy scientist Reed Richards have named Pedro Pascal for the role.

The news, which has not been confirmed by official sources, was reported by Deadline, and it appears the two sides are working out scheduling for filming before inking a deal.
Multiple other actors have either denied their involvement as the super-group's leading man, or stated their interest over the past few months, including Glenn Howerton and Penn Badgley.
Casting for Sue and Jonny Storm (The Invisible Woman and Human Torch) and Ben Grimm's The Thing have also not been officially confirmed – though The Crown's Vanessa Kirby, Killing Eve's Jodie Comer and Mila Kunis have all responded to rumours that they were taking up the role of The Invisible Woman.

A variant of the character of Reed Richards appeared briefly in 2022's Doctor Strange sequel, Multiverse of Madness; he was there played by John Krasinski, with the actor previously stating that he'd not been in talks to reprise the role.
Pascal is next set to star in Gladiator 2 alongside Paul Mescal and the second season of HBO's The Last of Us, which will see him reunited with Bella Ramsey's Ellie.
Marvel has not yet publicly commented on the Fantastic Four rumours, though director Matt Shakman has said that an announcement would be made following the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike, which was late last week.
Fantastic Four will be released in cinemas on May 2, 2025.
