Mariah Carey ‘Leaning On’ Director Pal Brett Ratner For Support After Nick Cannon Split?
Mariah Carey has reportedly turned to a longtime friend for advice on how to deal with her shocking split from husband Nick Cannon, with a source claiming the singer has been in contact with director Brett Ratner over the last few months.
The former American Idol judge is said to have split from Nick, 33, in May and they have been living separately ever since while co-parenting their three-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe. With the break-up still very fresh, it’s understandable that Mariah, 44, would want to mull over the end of her marriage with friends and, according to a source, she has grown particularly close to her longtime friend Brett.
The insider told the New York Daily News: “They speak frequently.” Mariah has been close friends with Brett ever since they worked together in the late 90s, with the director responsible for some of the singer’s most notable music videos including ‘Heartbreaker’ and ‘We Belong Together.’ Mariah is also said to have posted photos with Brett as he joined her and the twins on holiday in Aspen last December while she also accompanied him on the red carpet for the premiere of his movie, ‘Hercules,’ in July.
Despite the scrutiny surrounding the split, Mariah seems to be fully engrossing herself into her work with a rep for the star telling the publication that she is currently “rehearsing for her Asian tour,” which kicks off in Japan on October 4. It seems Mariah is keen to maintain a sense of normalcy for the children at the moment as she treated them to a day out at the Georgia Aquariam over the weekend and posted several photos of their quality time on Instagram.

While Mariah has remained silent on the state of their marriage, Nick spoke out for the first time last at a red carpet event last week, admitting that he is coping well with the break-up. “I feel great. I feel great thanks, I'm healthy and I'm happy,” he told the Mirror.
EntertainmentWise contacted Mariah's rep on the Brett claims but received a "no comment."
