Michael Sheen confirms he's NOT quitting acting after all
Despite the rumour sweeping the internet, it’s been confirmed that actor Michael Sheen will not be giving up acting to pursue political activism.
We originally picked up on the story just yesterday, when the Times claimed the British actor was abandoning his profession to involve himself in politics after the rise in far-right popularism that seems to be emerging in 2016.
Despite Sheen’s implication that if he were to switch professions it’d be all or nothing, it’s not true that he’ll give up on acting. “Once I’m in, I’m fully in, and this is big. It will be a big change for how people relate to me,” he told the Times, which was when the internet went wild with the story of him swapping Hollywood for activism.
However, Sheen took to his Twitter account to debunk the claim and clear up once and for all what his comments meant.
Before this gets ridiculous I said I'm thinking I might start acting less and maybe even stop for a while at some point but don't know yet.

He went on to clarify it wasn’t merely about the Brexit vote either, but about preserving democracy.
Brexit will of majority&totally understandable. Not about that. Talked about general world rise of anti-democratic forces. Must be stopped.

He then goes into detail over what he did and did not say.
WHAT I DID NOT SAY – I did one interview with The Times of London a few weeks ago, parts of which… https://t.co/e3o6NyziDB

So it appears he is merely considering the option and, if he were to do what he’s suggested, then it certainly won’t mean an end to the man’s acting career. The way he begins the tweet implies he was a bit fed up of how the news caught fire when it wasn’t even 100% accurate.
There’s nothing to prevent the actor from doing both; partaking in one doesn’t exclude him from the other but it didn’t stop his name from trending yesterday on Twitter and the film world panicking over his future. Fans will surely be breathing a sigh of relief that he’s not calling time on movies just yet.
Sheen’s career has seen him in roles in the ‘Underworld’ series, as well as in ‘Twilight’, ‘Frost/Nixon’, ‘Midnight in Paris’ and ‘The Queen’, with his most recent appearance in the upcoming sci-fi drama ‘Passengers’.
People often seem to take issue with actors having political opinions or for wanting involvement with particular campaigns. In truth there’s no reason why an actor, or anybody for that matter, cannot have political views and express them like everyone else does.
