'MINDHUNTER' S2 trailer: David Fincher's FBI drama returns with Charles Manson in tow
It’s been nearly five years since David Fincher released Gone Girl, his last directed film, and while his plans for a World War Z sequel were quashed, and his next film Mank remains a long way off, we’ll just have to make do with the return of MINDHUNTER S2 to satisfy our Fincher cravings.
The second season of Fincher’s drama, that explores the origins of psychological profiling in the FBI, will launch exclusively on Netflix on 16 August, 2019, and there’s a new trailer that you can watch below.
Based on the book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit by John Douglas and Mark Olshaker, the second season will see Jonathan Groff’s Holden Ford, Holt McCallany’s Bill Tench and Anna Torv’s Wendy Carr as they get drawn into the real life case of the Atlanta murders of 1979–81.
They’ll also be turning to notorious murderers including Ed Kemper and Charles Manson once again for insight into the mindset of serial killers. Australian actor Damon Herriman is playing Manson, a role he’ll also play in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, but he only appears very briefly in this new trailer.

The second season will consist of eight episode, two less than the first season which launched on Netflix in October, 2017, and will be directed by Fincher, Andrew Dominik (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford) and Carl Franklin (House of Cards).
Synopsis: FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench probe further into the psyches of those who have done the unthinkable.
With help from psychologist Wendy Carr, they apply their ground-breaking behavioural analysis to hunting notorious serial killers.
Fincher’s next film Mank is a black and white biopic of Citizen Kane screenwriter Herman Mankiewicz starring Gary Oldman in the title role. It’s due to start filming this November, for release on Netflix in the future.
MINDHUNTER season 2 will launch exclusively on Netflix on 16 August, 2019.
