'Mission: Impossible 7' moves to complete filming at ex-military base studio amid COVID spike

Filming of Mission: Impossible 7 has resumed, with the final leg of the much-delayed action epic set to take place at Longcross Studios in Surrey.

The shoot had been taking place at Warner Bros studios in Leavesden before Christmas, but will now move to Longcross, a former Ministry of Defence military base where tanks were designed and tested.

Previous movies to have filmed at Longcross include Skyfall, Guardians of the Galaxy, The King's Man and the new remake of Death On The Nile.

According to reports in The Sun, Tom Cruise, who is also a producer on the movie, has spent 'millions' adapting the site to ensure that there will be no further delays in the movie's schedule.

The move comes as COVID-19 infections have spiked in the UK, the total number of cases now hitting 2.33 million.

The majority of Surrey, where Longcross is based, is currently under the government's tier four restrictions.

Tensions have been running high on the sequel, following leaked audio which revealed Cruise berating crew-members for standing less than a metre apart on set earlier this month.

The actor exploded, screaming: “I’m on the phone with every f**king studio at night, insurance companies, producers and they’re looking at us and using us to make their movies. We are creating thousands of jobs, you motherf**kers.

“If I see you doing it again, you're f**king gone. And you, don't you ever f***ing do it again. We are not shutting this f***ing movie down.”

Five crew-members were said to have quit following the rant.

It comes after repeated delays for the movie, the first coming after shooting in Venice was abandoned as the pandemic exploded in Italy in February, making the sequel among the first major productions to be affected.

After production resumed over the summer, it was halted again in Italy in October after several people among the crew tested positive for coronavirus.

The movie, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, was originally slated for release in November, 2021, but will now debut on 4 November, 2022.
