When is Moana 2 being released on Disney+?
Moana 2 is out in UK cinemas now, and will later be available to stream on Disney+. The sequel was originally intended to be a TV series, but the project was retooled into a movie after Disney boss Bob Iger was said to be impressed with the footage.
The film has a runtime of 100 minutes, making it seven minutes shorter than the original Moana. As it is coming out in cinemas during the festive season it is likely that the film will be a success at the box office, which will mean it is unlikely to be released on Disney+ quickly.
Movies that are successful at the box office have an average window of three months from theatrical release to streaming, unless it does poorly. For example, Inside Out 2 came out on Disney+ after a 103 days, while Deadpool and Wolverine took 110 days.
While Disney have yet to confirm Moana 2's Disney+ release date, it is possible it will be released on the streaming platform in March 2025.

She added: "It's amazing to see just how far Moana's impact has gone. I love that she is strong and brave and kind, and I think that she's at the forefront of a conversation where she gets to rebrand the princesses a bit."
Dwayne Johnson is back as shape-shifting demi-god Maui, a role will he also play in the upcoming live-action remake.
Nicole Scherzinger and Temuera Morrison reprise their roles as Moana's parents, while Dodgeball star Alan Tudyk voices Moana's pet rooster Heihei. Newcomers to the cast include stand-up comedian Rose Matafeo and Next Goal Wins actor David Fane.
Who wrote the music for Moana 2?
The Moana 2 soundtrack includes all-new music penned by Opetaia Foa'i and Mark Mancina, who worked on the original film. Songwriting duo Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, best known for their unofficial Bridgerton musical, also contributed tracks to the sequel.
