Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse was originally slated for release on 29 March 2024, but was delayed indefinitely due to the Hollywood strikes in late 2023. There are no plans for the film to be released in 2025, according to Deadline, although Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson have recently been hired as the movie directors.

Doubt was cast on the project via a report from The Insneider in September 2024 that suggested the movie was preparing to weather even more delays due to “creative reasons.” It didn’t take long for the movie’s creatives to stop this rumour in its tracks, with producer Chris Miller tweeting: “Nothing has been scrapped. The reels are coming along nicely.”

Franchise composer Daniel Pemberton also came to the movie’s defence, writing: “Don’t really ever want to weigh in on this sort of stuff BUT would you ever believe there could sometimes be stuff on the internet that might not always be particularly accurate?”

Miller shared an update on the movie’s development in December 2023, saying: “We’re in production…we’re really excited about where the story is going, I think it’s a very satisfying conclusion to the trilogy and it’s as emotional as the other ones…we’re knee-deep in it.”

In March 2024, star Brian Tyree Henry, who voices Jeff Morales, assured fans the film was “in the works”, telling Deadline that it would be “even more epic than the last.”

Karan Soni, voice of Pavitr Prabhakar, told the Times of India in August 2024 that the threequel will start was “deep in production”. He added: “It’s animation, so it’s different and takes a long time. We’ll see when it’s ready and when it ends up coming out, but I’m really excited.”

Currently, there’s no trailer available for Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse but check back soon. As soon as it’s available, you’ll find it here.

While a full cast list for Beyond The Spider-Verse is yet to be revealed, the events of Across The Spider-Verse give us a good indication of some of the names we can expect to return for part three.

Filmmaking trio Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson will be back sharing directing duties, with Shameik Moore returning as once more Morales.

Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen Stacy AKA Spider-Woman is also likely to be back, alongside Jason Schwartzman as the Spot and Oscar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara and Spider-Man 2099, leader of the Spider-Society.

In addition, we’re sure we’ll see more of Daniel Kaluuya’s Spider-Punk Hobbie Brown, Karan Soni’s Indian Spider-Man Pavitr Prabhakar and Tyree Henry as Miles’ father, Jeff.

During an interview in May 2024, Jake Johnson, who voices Peter B. Parker, shed doubt on the chances of him returning to the franchise. He said: “I love Peter B. Parker. I will say this: I would be so sad if I got a call that Peter B. Parker is not returning to the Spider-Verse, because I feel really attached to that character.”

As for who else will return for Beyond The Spider-Verse, only time will tell.

Turns out, Spider-Man movies are a bit like buses: you wait ages for them to arrive, and then loads of great ones appear all at once.

While Tom Holland’s Peter Parker has been rounding up multi-verse foes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s live-action series, Morales has a multi-verse dilemma of his own – and it threatens everything he holds dear.

Fair warning: Across The Spider-Verse spoilers lurk below

In Spidey sequel Across The Spider-Verse, Morales’ existence as Earth 1610’s primary Spider-Man becomes fairly complicated.

Following the destruction of the Alchemax multi-verse collider at the end of Into The Spider-Verse, Morales comes into contact with a scientist who was impacted by its explosion.

Going under the name the Spot, his body is covered in portals to new universes and he blames our hero for his current condition. As a result, he sets out to obtain energy from Alchemax colliders from other universes to increase his power.

Meanwhile, Earth-61’s Gwen Stacey AKA Spider-Woman is currently on the tail of the Spot alongside members of the Spider-Society – a super team featuring multiple Spider-Man variants from a range of different parallel universes. While tracking the Spot’s activities, their leader Miguel O'Hara (Isaac) tries to avoid causing ‘canon event’ risks that can threaten to unstable the entire spider-verse.

By the end of 2023’s Across The Spider-Verse, we leave Morales battling personal issues while trapped in an alternate dimension with the Spot on the cusp of delivering a deadly attack with far-reaching multi-verse consequences.

While little is currently known about the plot of Beyond The Spider-Verse, it’s a safe assumption that it’ll see Morales try to escape his incorrect Earth and save his father. However, in doing so, he risks causing one of those critical ‘canon events’ that the Spider-Verse works so hard to avoid.

“The multiverse provides us with these sort of sliding doors,” co-director Dos Santos told Variety in Kine 2023.

“It allows us to ask these questions like the head games you play with yourself: ‘If I had done this, instead of that, what happens? How does my life turn out?’ You get to see those things play out on screen.”

Elsewhere, we’re sure this Spider-Man threequel will introduce us to even more Spider-Men while wrapping up what has become one of the most popular and well-received superhero trilogies of recent years.
