Netflix has said that it promises it won't make any more episodes of Good Omens, after an online petition from a Christian group to have it cancelled drew 20,000 signatures.

'Tell Netflix: Cancel Blasphemous Good Omens Series' read the clarion call from the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property.

The only issue being that Netflix doesn't make the show. Amazon does.

But nevertheless, Netflix made the pledge via its Twitter account last night, and to show willing, Amazon has agreed to cancel Stranger Things too, just to be on the safe side.

For his part, writer Neil Gaiman loved Netflix’s response.

The petition has now corrected its error, so let's see if Amazon decide to can the show, which is reputedly 'mocks God’s wisdom'.

The group is also angry that in the show God is voiced by a woman (in this case Frances McDormand).

“In the end, this is a denial of Good and Evil: morality and natural law do not exist, just humanitarianism and an ultimately useless creed. This is another step to make Satanism appear normal, light and acceptable. We must show our rejection. Please sign our petition, telling Amazon that we will not stand silent as they destroy the barriers of horror we still have for evil,” it goes on.

Good Omens premiered on Amazon last month, an adaptation of Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's novel of the same name from 1990.

It finds David Tennant as a demon called Crowley who teams with angel Aziraphale (played by Michael Sheen) to stop the Antichrist bringing about the apocalypse.
