Nicolas Cage hunts Bin Laden & Russell Brand plays God in Army of One trailer

Nicolas Cage plays a weirdo ex-con on a mission from God in the first trailer for his new comedy ‘Army of One’, and it looks just as crazy as you’d expect.

If that didn’t sound crazy enough for you, Russell Brand has taken on a role of God, which we assume he did was very happy to do.

- Seven magnificent 21st century westerns
- Five
stone cold classic corpse comedies
- Thor 3’s Ragnarok rumoured to be a Mad Max & Gladiator-style planet

Entertainment Weekly has the trailer exclusively. You can watch it here.

Oh, it gets stranger. In the film, Cage plays an unemployed handyman called Gary Faulkner, who, in a vision, is told by the big guy in the sky to hunt down Osama bin Laden.

Compelled by this East End deity’s instructions, Faulkner travels to Pakistan to complete his odyssey, with Brand’s higher power appearing sparodically to spur him on.

'Army of One’ is directed by Larry Charles - best known for his work with Sacha Baron Cohen on 'Borat’, 'Bruno’ and 'The Dictator’ - and also stars Rainn Wilson and Wendi McLendon-Covey.

It looks like Cage’s silliest role (at least, knowingly silly) for quite some time, and the performance seems to match.

Given how vocal Cage fans are (and we’re certainly among them) 'Army of One’ will certainy find an audience despite being a straight-to-DVD release. In the US it will be released on 4 November digitally and on 15 November on Blu-Ray, DVD and On Demand services.

It’s not clear if the film will be released in the UK at the same time.
