Nikita Kanda doubts that the Strictly curse will hit her
Nikita Kanda thinks her mum will prevent her being hit by the 'Strictly Come Dancing' curse.
The BBC Asian Network presenter explained that she has been bombarded with messages about her mother Renu after her family were shown in the audience of the dance competition and isn't getting any attention herself.
Nikita is quoted by The Sun newspaper as saying: "I think my mum's got more attention than me at the moment!
"It's quite funny, all the messages about how young she looks but it's been that way since we were in school, so we're used to it really.
"On my radio show people were texting in as well, saying, 'Say hi to your mum from me'."
Nikita has been single for seven years and joked about finding love when she first signed up for 'Strictly' although she hasn't had any luck yet.
The 28-year-old star said: "Nothing! Nothing in my DMs at all!"
However, Nikita - who is dancing with Gorka Marquez on the programme - says she is too busy for romance because of her 'Strictly' and radio commitments.
She said: "I’m not gonna have time for that anyway, I only get to see my family now on the weekend.
"But I'm used to the routine of getting up early. So I’m up for the breakfast show and then go straight to training after that, because I'm already up, I'm awake. I've got energy. I just want to push through the day and then when I get home, I can relax and go to sleep around 10."
