The Oscars have revealed the shortlist for the Best Picture category, with 10 films vying for the award.

Of the movies released so far this year the major frontrunner is Oppenheimer, the historical biopic about J. Robert Oppenheimer and the creation of the Atomic Bomb. The film's box office rival Barbie also has a chance at winning, though as a comedy it is less typical of the usual movies chosen at the Oscars.

Scorsese's epic Killers of the Flower Moon, which tells the tragic, true story of the killings of members of the Osage Nation is also a frontrunner thanks to the director's masterful storytelling and the talent of its cast. Poor Things, which stars Emma Stone as a woman brought back from the dead, has also been nominated, and could well win as it has been receiving rave reviews.
