Patrick Schwarzenegger says his dad Arnold persuaded him to stop smoking weed

Patrick Schwarzenegger has revealed that it was a man-to-man chat with his dad Arnold Schwarzenegger that persuaded him to stop smoking weed.

In a post in Instagram, the Austrian Oak’s third-born child said that he once turned up to the family homestead for Easter ‘a lil high’.

It was at that point that Arnold doled out some words of wisdom to his stoned progeny.

He explains: “FUN STORY: Few years ago (4 exactly) showed up lil high to Easter brunch… classic.

“My old man asked why… said ‘I dunno makes thing more fun.’ He replied how much more fun do you need to have, life is so good. I’m high on life. I never want anything that would take me out of my current life. Being high on life is better then anything else.

“Long story short… Haven’t smoked since then… just HIGH ON LIFE NOW! Happy & healthy & can’t thank god enough to see another day! Happy 4/20 sorry if that was a buzz kill lol.”

Arnie hasn’t always been of this belief, however.

Many will recall the scene from the cult documentary Pumping Iron, which focussed on Arnold’s battle with Lou Ferrigno for the title of Mr Olympia in 1975.

After winning the title at the end of the film, Arnie celebrates by smoking marijuana and eating fried chicken.

And then back in 2007, in an interview with GQ magazine, he explained that marijuana is ‘not a drug, it’s a leaf’.

However, he clarified this somewhat when running for the governorship of California: “I did smoke a joint and I did inhale. The bottom line is that’s what it was in the Seventies, that’s what I did. I have never touched it since.”

California passed the Adult Use of Marijuana Act in 2016, under the tenure of Governor Jerry Brown, Schwarzenegger’s successor.
