Patrick Stewart held an apt reunion for the times on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

Sir Patrick got together with his crew from Star Trek: The Next Generation at his home in Hollywood, but all invited were fully masked up.

Producer Rick Berman documented the meet-up, tweeting: “Masked TNG actors at @SirPatStew’s 80th.”

The safety conscious revellers included Berman and Stewart, alongside Michael Dorn (Worf), Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi), Stewart himself, Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden), Brent Spiner (Data) and LeVar Burton (Geordi).

Sirtis and Spiner, of course, have been hanging out with PatStew rather more recently, having both appeared in the Star Trek spin-off series, Picard, with Stewart reprising his role as the Jean-Luc Picard, former Captain of the Enterprise.

It's not yet known whether other former crew-mates could be set to appear in the second season of the show, but doubtless this meeting alone – though ostensibly for Stewart's special birthday – could set the rumour mill to grind.

Several of the crew also got together for a Zoom call, back in March, while isolating at home, on that occasion for Sirtis's birthday.

“I have the best friends in the world. Considering everything, this was the best birthday present. #TNGRules,” she tweeted.

It’s been a pretty decent locked down birthday for Stewart, with his old chum Sir Ian McKellen also delivering a delightful gift for him, in the form of a Shakespeare sonnet, number 81 to be precise.
