Prue Leith 'plans to take break from The Great British Bake Off'
Prue Leith is set to take a break from 'The Great British Bake Off'.
The 84-year-old TV star has appeared on the popular baking show for the last seven years, but Prue plans to skip the celebrity version of the programme later this year.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Prue absolutely loves working on 'Bake Off' but filming two series a year can be punishing on top of her other commitments.
"She has already filmed the normal series, which will air this year, but she will not appear on the celebrity version."
Prue still loves the TV show and she's determined to return in 2025.
The insider explained: "Prue has made it clear she adores the show and would like to come back in 2025.
"She will turn 85 next year, so it’s not surprising that she wants to take time off."
Prue replaced Dame Mary Berry on 'Bake Off' back in 2017, and she's even become a big name in the US in recent years.
The TV star previously told the Guardian newspaper: "The thing is, in America, they can’t really escape me. 'Bake Off' is very popular, and I also do their version, 'The Great American Baking Show'."
Prue revealed that her American fans are very different to her UK-based fans.
She shared: "It’s funny in Britain, I don’t really notice people nudging each other when I walk in the street, though my husband says they do. But in New York, they don’t stand on ceremony, everyone just comes up to me …"
Asked which approach she prefers, Prue replied: "I did a trial show in Los Angeles, and the audience was all whooping and shouting ‘We love you Prue!’ I mean, who doesn’t want to hear that?"
