Casey McQuiston's beloved YA book Red, White and Royal Blue has been adapted into a new movie for Prime Video.

The novel was McQuiston's debut and quickly became a New York Times bestseller. Now its romance has been transported from the page to the screen, much to fans' delight.

A trailer for the film was shared by Prime Video on Thursday, 6 July which gave viewers their first glimpse at Alex and Prince Henry, their awkward first meeting and how they come to fall in love.

The teaser clip shows the infamous cake incident as well as Prince Henry's struggle with being unable to live in anonymity as a member of the Royal Family.

Red, White and Royal Blue follows two protagonists: Alex Claremont-Diaz and Prince Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor. The first is the son of America's first female president, while the second is a British prince who is third in line for the throne.

The pair are brought into each other's lives when Alex is made to attend the royal wedding of Prince Henry's older brother, Alex despises the prince and the pair end up in an altercation that leads to the destruction of the wedding cake causing a huge public scandal.

In order to fix their image and avoid a diplomatic crisis, Alex and Prince Henry have to spend time together to show that there is no bad blood between them, but they soon start to realise that they actually have feelings for one another.

Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine lead the cast as Alex and Prince Henry, respectively, and the pair have a star-studded cast supporting them.

Uma Thurman portrays Alex's mother Ellen, who is President of the United States, while Stephen Fry takes on the role of the King, who is Henry's grandfather.

The film's cast is rounded out by Sarah Shahi as Zahra Bankston, Rachel Hilson as Nora Holleran, Ellie Bamber as Princess Bea, and Malcolm Atobrah as Percy Okonjo.


Red, White and Royal Blue is out on Prime Video now.
