Riverdale star Cole Sprouse's new Frankenstein movie has confirmed its UK release date.

Titled Lisa Frankenstein, the new movie, which stars Sprouse alongside Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania's Kathryn Newton and The Haunting of Hill House star Carla Gugino, is set for release in the UK and Ireland on March 22, 2024.

"Zelda Williams' Lisa Frankenstein, starring Kathryn Newton, Carla Gugino and Cole Sprouse, has been dated 22 March in the UK & Ireland," Digital Cinema Media's Tom Linay wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

This means that movie fans in the UK and Ireland will have over a month longer to wait than fans in the US where the horror-comedy will be released on February 9, 2024.

Based on Mary Shelley's classic novel Frankenstein, Lisa Frankenstein marks director Zelda Williams' – the late Robin Williams' daughter – feature film directorial debut.

Set in 1989, the upcoming movie follows an unpopular high school girl named Lisa who brings the corpse of a young Victorian man back to life by accident during a lightning storm. Using a tanning bed in her garage, Lisa then attempts to turn the re-animated corpse into her dream man.

Late last month, fans were treated to an exciting first trailer for the movie which is penned by Juno and Jennifer's Body writer Diablo Cody.

The film also marks Sprouse's return to screens after he said a final goodbye to his Riverdale character Jughead Jones in August.

Speaking about the Netflix show's ending, creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said: "When we were renewed for season 7, though we weren't told at the time it'd be our final season, I think we were all feeling that it might be.

"When [The CW CEO Mark Pedowitz] and I talked about it… it was bittersweet. That said, we are so proud of the run we've had, and the call did come as we were working on the last episode of season 6."
