Robert De Niro still owed $1 million by Weinstein for Silver Linings Playbook
Robert De Niro is still owed his $1 million fee from The Weinstein Company for starring in Silver Linings Playbook, according to reports.
Documents that have been seen by celebrity news site The Blast show that Harvey Weinstein’s production house is still on the hook for $940,706.
De Niro played the father of Bradley Cooper’s character in the movie, and scored himself an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
He’s among a raft of stars who say that they are still owed money by TWC.
Both Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts are said to be owed $168,611 for the 2013 comedy-drama August: Osage County.
George Clooney is also still owed $250,000 for producing the movie, while Brad Pitt is out of pocket to the tune of $278,865 for his role in the hitman thriller Killing Them Softly.
Weinstein’s firm, which he co-founded in 2005 with his brother Bob Weinstein after they sold their first company Miramax to Disney, made more than 150 films.
Among them were box office hits and Oscar-winners like Django Unchained, The King’s Speech, The Imitation Game and Paddington.
Following accusations by more than 70 women of sexual misconduct by Harvey Weinstein, first emerging in October last year, the company went up for sale.
It later declared bankruptcy in March of this year.
Many stars who are still owed money objected to the sale of the company to Lantern Capital in May, and are still to recoup their earnings.
