Yahoo Movies Robert Rodriguez still hopeful of 'Alita: Battle Angel' sequel
Robert Rodriguez has provided hope for die-hard fans of Alita: Battle Angel, insisting he is still optimistic that a follow-up will one day be made.
Released back in February 2019, Alita: Battle Angel only received a score of 61% on Rotten Tomatoes. It did take in $405m but reportedly needed to gross somewhere up to $500m to break even.

That hasn’t stopped Alita: Battle Angel from developing a die-hard fanbase eager to see a sequel confirmed, especially since the sci-fi adaptation of Yukito Kishiro’s manga series clearly set up numerous sequels.

During a recent interview with Forbes, Rodriguez was asked about a sequel, and he responded: “I think anything is possible.
“Disney bought Fox, and they have Disney+, so that is worth the conversation. I know other people would love to see another, and I would love to do another one.”
Rodriguez said the huge success of Disney+ means that there is still a future for Alita: Battle Angel, adding that it “opened up many opportunities such as sequels”.
Alita: Battle Angel should prove a valuable commodity for any streaming service as it has a “built-in audience”, and this would be the easiest way for them to consume it.
Rodriguez has been very busy since the release of Alita: Battle Angel – he co-wrote, produced and directed Red 11 for Tubi, Chapter 14: The Tragedy of The Mandalorian, and We Can Be Heroes, which hit Netflix on Christmas Day.
