Sarah Beeny asked sons to shave off her hair early in cancer battle
Sarah Beeny let her sons shave her hair when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer.
The ‘Sarah Beeny vs Cancer’ broadcaster decided to allow her four boys Billy, 18, Charlie, 16, Rafferty, 14, and Laurie, 12 - who she has with her husband Graham Swift - to shave her head as an “act of defiance” when she first got the news she had cancer in August, and now she loves the low maintenance hair care routine it has led to.
The 51-year-old star told the Radio Times magazine: “It really helped me, just going to work in one of my wigs, being normal - although in hindsight some of the wigs weren’t great. I can get ready in four minutes, which is brilliant.”
Sarah thought when she first got the news that she was going to die and started making funeral arrangements in her head.
She asked herself: “What kind of coffin do I need?"
The former ‘Property Ladder’ star - who was later told she had an 80 per cent chance of beating the diagnosis and was given the all clear in April after getting a double mastectomy - was given strength to carry on her difficult choice to make documentary about her illness by remembering it would “help people” see the reality of it.
Sarah said: “It wasn’t an easy decision… I felt it would help people, so that’s what kept me going.”
Recently, the ‘Sarah Beeny’s New Life In The Country’ star described how her breast implants were “like restuffing a cushion”.
Sarah said: “I’ve now got my fake boobs in and they’re pretty similar to the old ones, actually. They just took the old ones out of the inside and stuck some new innards in.
"It’s like restuffing a cushion... apart from the fact these ones feel a bit like memory foam, which is a bit weird. So they’re actually similar apart from the fact that when I lie down, they don’t fall to the side at all. They sort of stay there, like Belisha beacons."
