Scoot McNairy: Batman V Superman Is ‘Grounded In Reality’

DC and Warner Bros have spent quite a bit of time explaining how different their cinematic universe is going to be to Marvel’s.

Words like “mature” and “serious” have been banded around to describe ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice’, and now actor Scoot McNairy has joined in, by insisting that the blockbuster is “grounded in reality.”

Speaking to WeGotThisCovered to promote ‘Our Brand In Crisis’, Scoot McNairy was always going to be asked about the hugely anticipated comic-book adaptation.

As you can probably guess, McNairy wouldn’t reveal too much about the film, but what he did tease gave us a clearer idea of its tone.

“This is the superhero film that is more grounded in reality than any of the other ones,” McNairy insisted. “It’s a comic book movie, yes, but it’s very, very grounded.”

Of course, the fact that ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ features a super-powered alien fighting a vigilante orphan dressed as a bat, while there’s also an Amazonian goddess to contend with too, means that McNairy’s comments probably should be taken with a pinch of salt. But I still think we know what he’s talking about.

McNairy’s comments regarding ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ are nothing new. In fact, while talking to the same website a couple of weeks ago, Jesse Eisenberg talked along the same lines, explaining that Chris Terrio’s script deals with “sophisticated topics and discussions.”

Eisenberg then added, “In ‘Batman v Superman’, even though it’s a superhero movie, people who don’t necessarily see movies in that genre, like this crowd, will probably enjoy it. It discusses sophisticated and important themes.”

OK. We get it! ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ is going to be really, really smart. I’m all for them trying to explain just how different their film is going to be, but the repeated dismissing of other superhero and comic book movies is going to grow infuriating, quickly.

We’re still not really sure who Scoot McNairy is actually playing in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice’. Recent rumors have insisted that it’s going to be Jimmy Olson. But, even if it’s not, the fact that the film has an actor of McNairy’s ilk involved is only a good thing.

‘Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ will get to show off just how grounded it is when it is finally released on March 25, 2016.
