Shadowhunters may have been cancelled, but two of its stars have reunited for an upcoming horror movie – one that was shot and directed entirely on Zoom.

Luke Baines and Katherine McNamara star in the upcoming Untitled Horror Movie, directed and co-written by Nick Simon. The dark comedy follows six actors who decide to film their own horror movie after learning their TV show has been cancelled.

The Jonathan Morgenstern and Clary Fray actors are joined by The Umbrella Academy's Emmy Raver-Lampman (who plays Allison Hargreeves in the Netflix series), along with Never Have I Ever's Darren Barnet, 13 Reasons Why's Tim Granaderos, and Vampire Diaries star Claire Holt.

Kal Penn, Brower Aisha Tyler, Kevin Daniels, Lesly Kahn and Sohm Kapila also star.

Speaking to Vanity Fair about the process of making the movie remotely, Nick Simon explained that every actor was sent "cameras and lights and microphones", with Zoom being used as a directing device.

"We had to test everything, make sure everything worked, and then essentially make up little boxes that were delivered to everybody contact-free, because at that stage, we were very much in a lockdown and we didn't obviously want to get anybody sick," Luke Baines added.

The horror – which sees the TV stars unravel when their Zoom meet unintentionally summons a violent spirit – has been described as "Scream meets For Your Consideration".

Untitled Horror Movie will be available to download on iTunes and Amazon from June 15.
