Shia LaBeouf film makes £7 at UK Box Office
Shia LaBeouf’s ‘Man Down’ is a spectacular flop.
According to The Guardian, the latest Shia LaBeouf flick managed a meagre £7 at the UK box office… but it might not be as bad as it sounds.
“Signature’s theatrical distribution of Shia LaBeouf war movie Man Down may be fairly termed token – it opened on Friday in just one venue, concurrent with release on digital platforms,” they revealed. “However, even by the standards of a token cinema release, the box office is disappointing: data gatherer comScore reported a weekend gross of just £7.”

Apparently, ‘Man Down’ opened in a single venue – the Reel Cinema in Burnley.
It’s suggested that this was a move to help the film garner reviews, rather than catering to Lancashire’s army of Shia LaBeouf fans. But it still seems like a rather odd way of releasing a movie with a fairly substantial star.
Here’s the official synopsis:
“In a savage post-apocalyptic America, U.S. Marine Gabriel Drummer (Shia LaBeouf) searches desperately for the whereabouts of his estranged son, Jonathan and wife, Natalie (Kate Mara).”
“Accompanied by his best friend Devin (Jai Courtney), a hardnosed marine whose natural instinct is to shoot first and ask questions later, the two intercept a survivor who carries vital information about the whereabouts of Gabriel’s family. As we revisit Gabriel’s traumatic past through a debrief with military counsellor Peyton (Gary Oldman), we are guided in unravelling the puzzle of his life and the origin of this war-torn America.”
If you ask me, that sounds like a pretty all-star cast… but with the marketing seemingly focussing on a digital release, it looks as though ‘Man Down’s box office returns are set at just £7.
‘Man Down’ is available on video-on-demand now.
A DVD and Blu-ray release will follow next month.
